Verifying integrity of game cache should get that file back. Thank you for the help, it just verified the download integrity so I'm guessing the game isn't installed for it to check game integrity. Yeah, did that and I know it's supposed to pop up with this small window and have "Verifying Game Data" but it has this instead. Next, open the shortcut and verify will start. In the target line, put -verify behind the exe, remembering to add a space. Once you remove the mods and verify, please try launching the game and verify if it works.

Should I remove the hook files too? Kallus Rourke. Do me a favor and go ahead and remove the mods. Only thing I can think of is that the downloaded mods replaced something of the original start up files which I don't think should happen. I was playing GTA V just fine, installed it yesterday, did some singleplayer missions, did some online, then saw a YouTube video that you can play as a cop so I closed the game and manually installed the mod as the video instructed step-by-step.

When did you install GTA V? The only reason I can think of for it to be trying to redownload the entire game is that it's not actually installed.

Negative, it appears I have to reinstall GTA 5 again, won't let me launch without redownloading for some reason. It shouldn't be trying to reinstall the game. Is there any advice you can give me to avoid reinstalling the whole game again? Oh and sorry if this is a topic that arises often, had troubles locating the same issue in the search bar due to incorrect topic titles. I've tried fixing this by putting the GTA 5 shortcut inside the GTA 5 directory in hopes that maybe the hook application would pick it up and start the game, then I ran into another issue which just simply states GTA5. I am new to GTA 5 and definitely to this community, I installed the manual version and replaced the outdated hook files with the new ones, all seems well until I launch the Hook application where it signs me in through Social Club and starts installing GTA 5 all over again, I don't plan on installing another 69gb.
